Elizabeth Allen-Cannon, Rachel Mesplay Helm, Matt Roche, Pat Egger, and Danni Parelman are five artists that found each other by way of Kansas City, Missouri and Providence, Rhode Island. In Kansas City, Allen-Cannon, Helm and Roche met by way of Whoop Dee Doo–a faux public access television show–where they traveled to various cities to create strange props, sets, and experiences. Allen-Cannon, Parelman, and Egger all attended Rhode Island School of Design around the same time, and reunited in the midwest after graduation. In The Call Is Coming From Inside the House, these five Kansas City based artists work through varied media to create cut, mashed, warped, and all together monstrous reflections of diverse aspects of American culture, from the sacred to the tawdry.
