Nick Albertson: Single Use

119 N Peoria #3D Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Friday, January 31st, from 5PM - 8PM
On view through Friday, March 7th
Aspect/Ratio is pleased to present Single Use new work from gallery artist Nick Albertson.
Single Use is the first solo show for Nick Albertson.
With Single Use, Nick Albertson continues his exploration of everyday household items. Using photography and video, Albertson repurposes utilitarian objects. The latest body of work eschews color as Albertson reworks the mundane and mass-produced into stark tableaus of film noir. Comedy ensues in a video of black and white dancing plates.
Drawing inspiration from the readymade and found object traditions, Albertson’s imagery strips homely items, such as cone paper cups and Styrofoam plates, of their intended functions so that their ordinariness fades and is replaced with intrigue.
Nick Albertson (b. 1983, Boston, Massachusetts) received his MFA in Photography at Columbia College Chicago after completing his BA in Photography at Bard College. His work has been exhibited in Chicago, Portland, Seattle, New York and internationally.
