Opening Friday, October 11th, from 6PM - 10PM

Repetition is an elementary part of the artistic process. Whether an artist works in a series or creates a unique work, specific ideas, processes and actions are repeated over and over again. It within this unending cycle that conceptions of sameness and difference, success and failure and growth and decay emerge to further inform the completed work.
Curated by Steve Juras and Kyle Fletcher, and produced in collaboration with the Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, “Everything is practice” is an exhibition and dance performance exploring this idea of repetition. The event encourages the viewer to consider how relatively mundane actions transform themselves over time into art works. This movement from the simple to the profound, shown through video, painting, drawing, fabric and dance, underscores the importance in valuing labor, persistence and patience.
