Jordan Martins, Matthew Schlagbaum and Theodore Darst: Lossless
@ Chicago Artists' Coalition
217 N. Carpenter Street
Opening Friday, April 12th, at 6PM
On view through Thursday, May 2nd
Chicago Artists Coalition is pleased to present Lossless a three-person exhibition as part of the HATCH Projects Residency, featuring the work of Jordan Martins, Matthew Schlagbaum and Theodore Darst, curated by MK Meador. An analog investigation of a digital ideal, the show questions the process by which information reaches the audience, especially as it concerns visual information that is lost or obscured. Starting with Martins’ collage work as the 2D point of departure, then on to Schlagbaum’s recombinant sculptures, and terminating with the digital-to-print work of Darst, the show has a cyclical plan. While they work in vastly different mediums, these artists share a common process that involves the editing and obfuscation of layers of information. Together, the works function as a multimedia and largely non-digital exploration into the process of digital compression.
There will be an opening reception on Friday, April 12, 2013, and the exhibition will run through May 2, 2013.
