Allison Wade’s sculptures and prints rely on a calibrated balance between seemingly disparate elements. Margins of negative space and points of connection are visually as important as the more materially substantial elements. Simultaneously aware of the specific relationships of the parts and the coherence of the whole, the viewer senses a new logic—one that invites investigation and interpretation. In “No More. No Less.”, Wade installs these works in conversation with one another, arranging them so that the connections punctuate the viewers’ navigation of the space. The appearance of certain sculptures’ ability to resist gravity and to remain standing speaks to hope as well as physics.
